Fowler | Helsel | Vogt wants to reward students who are prepared to dedicate their professional careers to protecting the communities around them. The Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship promises $2,500 to a standout student who feels called to work as a paramedic, firefighter, EMT, law enforcement officer, or emergency responder.

Who is Eligible?
Students pursuing careers in emergency services have the opportunity to apply for the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship beginning this year. Applicants must submit proof of their intentions to pursue an emergency services career, as well as:
- Proof of enrollment at an accredited college, trade school, university, or graduate school in the United States.
- All necessary application materials, including a video between three and five minutes addressing the scholarship’s core questions.
Students must also agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions if they want to qualify for the chance to win $2,500.
How Do I Apply?
To apply for the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship, please complete a video between three and five minutes long discussing the scholarship questions detailed below. Once you’ve completed your video, please upload it as an unlisted YouTube video and include a link with the application form on this page.
Your application must include all required materials to move forward in the consideration process. Double-check your application packet before sending it to the scholarship selection committee.

Fowler | Helsel | Vogt’s Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship recognizes the achievements of students who intend to use their skills to support and protect their communities. This scholarship is strictly available to students intent on pursuing a career as an EMT, paramedic, firefighter, law enforcement officer, or emergency responder.
Students who meet the scholarship’s qualifying criteria should create a video between three and five minutes long describing:
- Why they want to work in emergency services
- How they plan to support and protect their communities
- What moments in their life inspired them to work in emergency services
Each student’s video should be original to them. Please do not use AI to generate the script for your application to the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship. The use of AI to create a video wholesale, modify the speaker’s voice, or create false actors will result in your removal from the applicant pool.
How to Create an Effective Scholarship Video
To create a strong video for the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship, consider writing a script addressing the scholarship’s core questions ahead of time. After practicing, you can set up your recording device in a well-lit area while holding it as still as possible.
Please include your full name and the name of the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship at the beginning of your video. If you use any sources to build out your script, make sure to cite those sources at the end of your video and in your video’s description.
You can use editing software like Adobe Creative Cloud to make your video more visually appealing after you’re finished recording. Scholarship Deadline
Students interested in qualifying for the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship should submit their videos for consideration by March 1, 2027. This is a firm deadline. The scholarship selection committee will not consider applications submitted after this deadline passes.
Once the scholarship deadline expires, please do not reach out to Fowler | Helsel | Vogt. The team cannot provide students or their families with updates on the status of a student’s application.
The scholarship selection committee with Fowler | Helsel | Vogt reserves up to three months to choose a scholarship winner. Once the team chooses a winner, a firm representative will reach out to that student. Unfortunately, Fowler | Helsel | Vogt cannot contact non-winning students at this time.
Terms and Conditions
All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicants must be enrolled at a college, trade school, university, or graduate school
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment
- Applicants must have residency in the United States
- Applicants must be in good academic standing
- Applicants must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information.
- Applicants must author an original video on the scholarship topic provided.
- Applicants must prove that they intend to pursue a career in emergency services.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of Fowler | Helsel | Vogt.
- Past recipients of the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Fowler | Helsel | Vogt, if they were to be awarded a scholarship.
- Applicants who submit the same video for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row
Selection & Award Notification Process
Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision. The scholarship selection committee with Fowler | Helsel | Vogt will award the Protecting Those Who Protect Us: First Responder Scholarship based on a student’s commitment to ensuring the safety of their community.
Please do not contact Fowler | Helsel | Vogt with questions about this scholarship or the status of a student’s scholarship application at this time.
Once the scholarship selection committee chooses its winner, the winning student can expect to hear from a Fowler | Helsel | Vogt representative. The firm will share a blog post and press release announcing the student’s name on its website. A representative will then send the student’s winnings to the academic institution of their choosing.
